1. Kashi Vishwanath Temple

Kashi Vishwanath Temple is one of the 12 Jyotir Lingas or temples that is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located on the western bank of the holy river Ganga that flows in Varanasi. The main deity of this temple is Lord Vishwanath which means the ruler of the universe. The plating of the temple is having The Golden Plating of 18kg of hold on its tower. Any electric device is not permitted in the temple premises. This temple attracts a massive amount of devotees during the festival of Shivratri. There are some interesting carvings on the wall of this temple.

2. Dashashwamedh Ghat

As we get to know from the name of this Ghat it is believed to be the exact place where Dasa Ashwamedha’s sacrifice was performed by Lord Brahmaji. This Ghat is used for performing various religious-spiritual. The best time to visit this place is during the festival of light that is Deepawali. This Ghat is famous for its Ganga Aarti that is performed every evening and this place is visited by more than a hundred people each day.

3. Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple

Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple was constructed in 1900 on the Bank of Assi River by the freedom fighter Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. This temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and Lord Rama. This temple is one of the natural attractions of Varanasi. The main Prasada of this temple is Laddu offered to the deity. One thing that is to be kept in mind that there are several monkeys that are present in temple premises and can steal your Prasada.

4. Assi Ghat

Assi Ghat is a religious ghat that has the confluence of river Ganga and River Assi. There is a Peepal tree where the huge Shiva Lingam is installed. This place is having its mention in various legends and Puranas. Assi Ghat is the major tourist attraction in Varanasi, this place attracts a huge number of tourists during sunset time. Ganga Aarti is performed at Assi Ghat each morning that spreads positivity and spirituality in the environment. This ghat is located near Banaras Hindu University.

5. New Vishwanath Temple, BHU

New Vishwanath Temple is located on the bank of the holy river Ganga. This temple is located in proximity to The Banaras Hindu University and hence attracts the use number of tourists. This place is having a positive aura that fills the space with some positive vibes. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it also consists of nine other temples which make this place most spiritual.

6. Tulsi Manasa temple

This temple is dedicated to Lord Rama and was constructed in 1964. This temple is named after Tulsi Das who was the saint-poet. The architecture given to this temple is of Shikhara style and this temple is also having inscriptions on the wall of the temple from Ramcharitmanas. This temple is specially visited from the month of July until August, which is also known as the month Savan. During this time period, special Puppets show related to the story of Ramayana.

7. Tibetan Temple

This temple has Tibetan architecture. This is the place where Lord Buddha taught his disciples about the four truths of life. This place has prayer wheels and statues of Sakyamuni, which are decorated with Buddhist traditions and paintings that are also called 'Thangka'. The prayer wheels in the temple release the strips of paper that are having Buddhist chants on them.

8. Manikarnika Ghat

This sacred ghat is like a gateway to the next life. As per the legends, it is believed that if you spend the last few days of your life in this place and also completing the ritual of cremation that ensures the painless death and also frees the soul from the cycle of death, birth, and rebirth.

9. Nepali Temple

This is one of the oldest temples that was constructed during the 19th century. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple was constructed by the King of Nepal and was constructed as Pashupatinath Temple that is located in Kathmandu. This temple is constructed using terracotta, stones, and wood carving which attracts a huge number of tourists.

10. Kedar Ghat

This is one of the oldest ghats in Varanasi and also is one of the cleanest ghats of the Holy River Ganga. Here you can also offer prayers to Lord Shiva at the Kedareshwar temple. This place is mostly visited for its beautiful surrounding and spiritual vibe.

11. Batuk Bhairav Temple

This place is of immense religious importance and also a place of worship for Aghoris and Tantriks. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva's Batuk Bhaurav incarnation. It is believed that there is an Akhand deep in the temple that is burning for many years and its oil is said to have some healing powers which are the major attraction of this place.

12. Bharat Mata Mandir

This temple is dedicated to mother India and is said to have no idols but a carving of marble depicting the map of India. This temple was considered in 1936 and was a brainchild of Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta and was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi.

13. Banaras Hindu University

This university is spread in the area of 5.3sq km and was constructed in the year 1916 by Madan Mohan Malviya. This campus houses around 30,000 students which makes it the largest residential building. This campus is constructed in Indo-Gothic architecture and also has an alluring garden that enhances the beauty of this place.

14. Shivala Ghat

There are various historical monuments that are located on the sides of Shivala Ghat. Some of the places that are located next to the ghat are Chet Singh Fortress, King Sanjay Vikram, and King Of Nepal. This ghat has the best alluring view in the city.

15. Manmandir Ghat

This Ghat was constructed in the 17th century by Maharaja Mann Singh. This ghat is famous for an observatory that was constructed by Savai Jaisingh ll in the year 1710. There is a stone balcony that is located on the northern side of the Ghat from where you can have the best view of the city.

16. Ramnagar Fort

This fort is located opposite Tulsi ghat and on the eastern ghat of the holy river Ganga. This is a marvelous historical monument in Varanasi. This fort was constructed in the year 1750 by King Balwant Singh. The Mughal style of architecture is given to this fort. Currently, this fort is the residence place of King Pelu Bhiru Singh.

17. Chinese Temple

This temple is dedicated to Lord Buddha and was constructed in Chinese or Buddist architecture. This colorful temple is having enough space for a meditation hall where the tourist can meditate and soak their self into the serene vibe.

18. ISKCON Temple

This temple was constructed by Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. This temple was constructed with the aim of promoting Krishna’s Consciousness and also to educate everyone regarding the teachings of Lord Krishna that was given in Bhagwat Geeta. Everyone can join the regular chanting of mantras, and kirtans that are done on a regular basis in the temple.
