Uttarakhand as the name suggests Uttara means north, and Khand means part. Uttarakhand Tourism is a part of Northern India. It is having many Magnificent mountains, sacred pilgrimage sites, many marvelous holy rivers, diverse wildlife and mysterious mythological stories of its glorious past. This Indian state became prominent when the Beatles come around, back in the year 1968. This state is also known as “Dev Bhumi” as many incidents from Hindu mythology occurred in this state. This state is fully packed with adventure sites and also has the essence of spirituality and there are many places to visit in Uttarakhand. Dehradun is the Capital of Uttarakhand which is located in the northern part of India.
The history of Uttarakhand goes from the Stone age to the Pauranic age it has stored a lot in it. Earlier this Dev Bhumi was part of another Indian state Uttar Pradesh. On the 9th of November in the year 2000, it got its identity as the newly formed state named Uttranchal. The reason behind this separation was that the U.P. government was not paying much attention to this part.
The second reason behind this partition was the cultural difference between the people of Uttar Pradesh and the Hill people of Uttarakhand. By the year 1815, the British Empire was ruling the entire Uttarakhand except for Tehri Garhwal. Further, in the year 1926 Kumaon region of Uttarakhand was formed. Anusuya Prashad Bahuguna was the person who asked for a division of Uttarakhand into two regions. Uttarakhand became the 27th state on the map of India.
Further division of Uttarakhand was named as Kedarkhand (Garhwal region) and Manaskhand (Kumaon region). In December 2006 when the President of India signed a law then Uttaranchal was renamed Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand was ruled by the Kauravas, Guptas, Kushanas, Katyuris, Kunindas Palas, the Chands, and Panwars and the British in turns.

It is that place where even heavenly Ganga was brought down to earth by King Bhagirath so that using its pure water he can purify and let his closed one rid of all the sins.
Uttarakhand is having the best scenic beauty with snow-clad mountains, Glaciers, and beautiful eye-catching waterfalls, an attractive form of farming in which mountains are cut to have flat land in form of stairs for farming which is like having a cherry on top. A state which is having a rich culture and large biodiversity.
There are national Parks to protect endangered species like Bengal tigers which are present in large numbers in Jim Corbett National Park, it is also having Rajaji National Park which is formed by combining three ranges together that is Rajaji range, chilla range, and Motichur range. Even Jim Corbett national park is divided into several zones such as Dehal, Dhikala, Bijrani, Sitabani, and Durga Devi zones.
Uttarakhand is also having Nanda Devi National park which is combined with the Valley of Flowers and formed a world heritage site in the year 2005. Besides promoting Spiritual and Wildlife tourism Uttarakhand is also famous for its adventure tourism. It is having a white river rafting activity famous in the Shivpuri area of Rishikesh.
There are different lengths of Rafting which are 32km, 24km, 16km, and 10km. Auli is again famous for Skiing and Trekking. There are many Treks in Uttarakhand like the trek to Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib there are many deep forests and shallow rivers that can make your blood pump rate high and gives you the thrilling experience that will be with your life long.
Uttarakhand is also having many world Heritage sites. Its rich natural beauty makes it a perfect Hill Stations for couples to enjoy their vacation, Snowfall in Uttarakhand and create some sweet memories. A place like Chopta, Auli which is as beautiful as Switzerland and Mussoorie which is the queen of hills, never fails to create interest among the Indian people but also among the foreigners. Now you must be wondering that why Kumbh Mela is celebrated in Haridwar and not in other cities this also has an epic tail of Samudra Manthan that when God and devils were fighting about who will have the pot of Amrit (the nectar drink of immortality) then the son of Lord Indra took that pot and ran away and he ran for almost 12 years and stopped at 8 places for resting and wherever he used to stop the few drops of Amrit use to fall on that place.
Four of these places are on earth which are Haridwar, Ujjain, Prayagraj, and Nasik and the other four places are in heaven, so this is the reason that why Kumbh Mela is celebrated only in these particular places. There are so many dance forms, music, dressings, and Uttarakhand food which change from district to district but still, the people here are united by these festivals which they celebrate with all their hearts.

The Triyugi Narayan Temple depicts the story of how Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati got married and thus this temple gained a lot of popularity among the couples, even the fire of their marriage in Havan Kund is still burning and it is said that a couple must visit this place at least once in their lifetime to make their married life happier.
Mana village which is the last village on the Indo-Tibet border is having caves where the Epic Mahabharata is written by Lord Ganesha. The epic incident of Mahabharata which every Hindu knows, Uttarakhand has played a major role in that too. While Pandavas were going to Heaven they came to Uttarakhand to find lord Shiva for getting rid of the sins of killing their own family members.
You can visit the Temples of Uttarakhand and will experience that really there is some supreme power here which justifies the name “Abode of God”. Uttarakhand is the only state where the Heavenly Ganga brought on Earth.
