Assam is a state in north-eastern India. Dispur is the capital of the state Assam. The state is famed for its wildlife, archaeological sites, and tea plantations. It is also known for Assam tea and Assam silk. The festival celebrated here is colourful and vibrant. The Majuli has 22 Vaishnava Satras which were established during the 15th century.
The state is also famed for as it holds one of the famous sacred Kamakhya Temple, constructed in the 10th century and is settled at a distance of about 7 km from the city of Guwahati. This temple is devoted to Goddess Kamakhya and is one of the important Shaktipeeth of the country.
