Munsiyari-The Kashmir of Uttarakhand
Munsiyari which is also known as little Kashmir is a small town located in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. This beautiful hill station is located at an elevation of 2298 meters above sea level. The literal meaning of Munsiyari is a place with snow. Munsiyari offers the most prerequisite view of snow-clad mountain peaks and Panchachuli which is the group of five peaks is the major attraction of Munsiyari. Munsiyari is also one of the famous destinations for adventure seekers as it offers activities like trekking at a high elevation and the view from those points is phenomenal. Some of the famous adventure places are Milam, Ralam, and Namik glaciers. Later Munsiyari was a restricted area as it is wedged in between the border of India, Nepal, and Tibet. But in recent times it is emerging as a popular destination for trekking and is also promoted by the Government of Uttarakhand. This valley offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain ranges and the calming scenic beauty. Munsiyari is very rich in flora and fauna as it is having many deodars, pine and Rhododendrons trees and also many birds like Raven, Falcon, Wagtail, Monal and many more. Munsiyari is also rich in wildlife like Leopards, fox, Himalayan bear, Musk deer, etc.
