Places to Visit in Jaipur

1. Amber Palace

This is one of the most mesmerizing forts in Jaipur city of Rajasthan. It is located 11 km from the City of Jaipur, and the serpentine staircases are the most awestruck thing in this fort. This fort is made up of yellow and pink sandstone that is really fantabulous. Amber Fort is the most ancient fort and residence of Rajput Ruler and was constructed in 1592 by Maharaja Man Singh l. This fort was amongst the “Hill Forts of Rajasthan” which is the part of UNESCO World Heritage site.

2. City Palace

It was constructed from 1729 to 1732 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh and it occupies around one-seventh of the complete area of Jaipur. There are palaces like the Mubarak Mahal and Chandra Mahal that are located inside City Palace. The architecture and styling are done in Rajput and Mughal blend. This Palace was constructed in the 20th century by Jai Singh ll.

3. Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal as the name suggests, is the fort of air as it is having several small-size windows that let cool air pass inside this fort. It was constructed in the year 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. This pyramidal structure is made up of red sandstone for the royal ladies of that time so that they can enjoy all the festival that is held on streets, without coming in the eye of others.

4. Jantar Mantar

This is an astronomical observatory that is located near the City Palace. This is the UNESCO world heritage site that is located in Jaipur. This is one of the largest observatories in the world to study Space and time. It was constructed in 1727 to 1733 by Raja Sawai Jai Singh. These are four other observatories that are alike to this one which are located in Delhi, Mathura, Varanasi, and Ujjain.

5. Nahargarh Fort

Nahargarh fort is located in between Amber and Jaigarh fort is having some fine work and delicate carving on its wall. It was built in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh ll. There are two mahals one for ladies and others for men. The ladies mahal is known as “Zenana” and the men Mahal is known as “Mardana Mahal”. Nahargarh Biological Park is also located close to the fort which houses Loins, Leopards, and Tigers.

6. Chokhi Dhani

It is a Luxury theme-based Heritage restaurant that is the prime attraction of tourists. It is designed in the village theme to give its guests the feel of village life. Here you can enjoy the famous Daal, Batti, and Churma with some folk dance, magic show, horse riding, Fortune teller, boating, and puppet shows as a part of the entertainment.

7. Albert Hall Museum

This is one of the oldest museums of Rajasthan that was constructed in 1876. The structure of this museum was similar to that of the Victoria museum and Albert Hall museum located in London and was earlier use for organizing concerts. There are around 16 galleries in this museum. This museum is having carpets, pottery, ancient coins, marble arts, and Egyptian Mummy.

8. Galtaji Temple

It is located in the foothills of the Aravalli Range and is a Hindu pilgrimage site. This temple is having various springs, hot Kunds, and Pavilions. This temple is constructed using pink sandstone. This temple at a first glance seems like a palace. This pilgrimage site is having a temple of Lord Rama, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Krishna.

9. Jaigarh Fort

This fort is located on “Cheel Ka Teela” in Jaipur city of Rajasthan. It was constructed in the year 1726 by Raja Sawai Jai Singh ll. This fort was constructed to basically protect Amber Fort.  this fort was never conquered by anyone so it is also known as the fort of victory.

10. Birla Temple

This temple is located on Moti Dungri hill and is dedicated to Lakshmi Narayan or Lord Vishnu and was constructed in 1988.  The wall of the temple is having the delicate carvings of God, goddess, a line from Puranas, and Upanishad. This temple is a combination of modern design and Hindu architecture. This temple is constructed using white marble only.

11. Jal Mahal

This fort is located over the water and so it is named 'Jal Mahal'. This is located close to Nahargarh fort. This fort was constructed by Maharaja Madho Singh in the year 1750. This fort is a blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture. The fort is having just one story located above the water and four-story that are submerged underneath the water. Entry is prohibited in this fort.

12. Rambagh Palace

Rambagh Palace which is a Luxury Heritage resort now was the finest palace of Jaipur in the old times. It is situated at a distance of 8km from the main city of Jaipur. This palace is famous for its brilliant architecture, facilities, and lighting. Earlier Maharaja Sawai Man Singh ll and his wife Maharani Gayatri Devi use to live in this palace.
