The Valley of Flowers is located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India, within the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. It lies at an altitude of around 3,600 meters above sea level in the Western Himalayas. It is about 300 km from Rishikesh and 16 km from Govindghat, which serves as the main base for the trek.

To reach Valley of Flowers, you need to first arrive at Rishikesh or Haridwar, which are well connected by road and train. From there, you can travel to Joshimath (via Badrinath highway). Govindghat is the main starting point of the trek, around 22 km from Joshimath. From Govindghat, a 13 km trek leads to Ghangaria village, which is the base camp for the Valley of Flowers. From Ghangaria, you need to trek about 4 km to enter the valley.

The best time to visit Valley of Flowers is from mid-July to mid-September when the flowers are in full bloom after the monsoon rains.
