Sanasar- The Mini Gulmarg
The fabulous Sanasar is in the Jammu region. It is named after the 2 villages- Sana and Sar. Sanasar is truly a paradise for adventure seekers and offers some thrilling activities like- trekking, camping, paragliding, rappelling. Nature lovers also find this destination superb due to its deep green forests, pretty flower-laden meadows, and marvellous Himalayan mountains. The splendid Sanasar is also visited for religious purposes. One can visit the Shank Pal temple that is around 400 years old and is devoted to the deity Nag. This temple can only be reached by 5 hours trek. Another sacred Hindu temple is the Nag temple where devotees come to pay respect to the snake king cobra. There are some other fantastic places to explore in this beautiful Sanasar.
One of the popular festivals that are celebrated with great pomp and show is the Naag Panchami festival and is celebrated in July or August at Naag mandir that is located near Patnitop. Several devotees pay a visit to this temple to worship their beloved God.
Sanasar being a remote area does not disappoint any traveler with its food. The local food here is well prepared and includes- herbs, spices, homemade dairy products, and meat with some exotic spices. The locals love to have tandoori, bread, and rice food items. Head towards this beautiful place for some thrill and excitement as it is a destination famed for Eco-Adventure activities.
