Deoriatal Lake - Vibrant Lake of Reflection

Deoria Tal is at an altitude of 2438 m is considered a place where Gods used to take bath. It is an illusory lake that is encircled by the snow-clad mountains that are situated in the region of Rudraprayag in the Garhwal Region of Uttarakhand.

It is perhaps the most famous camping site and trekking place in Uttarakhand’s Himalayan region. You need to travel for 3 km on a trekking journey from Mastura and Sari towns on the Ukhimath-Chopta street, to arrive at this perfect lake.

This lake is having unique importance to Hindu mythology as it used to be called 'Indra Sarovar' according to Hindu Puranas. The astonishing landscape and pristine lake of this spot draw in countless adventurers and nature enthusiasts throughout the year.

The mythology of Deoria Tal

As per the mythology, this was the exact Emerald Lake where the Hindu Devta or Gods used to take baths. Deoria Tal is also having its mention in Hindu Puranas and ancient Hindu Texts as “Indra Sarovar”.

This place is Mythologically connected to the Epic Mahabharata and is believed to be the place where Yaksha asked Pandavas to answer his questions before drinking the water of this lake. Even today the region is having a splendid magical beauty due to its mythical background.

It is one of the highest Temple of Lord Shiva and by opting for one kilometer for the trek you can also witness the magnificent beauty of Chandrashila peaks.

How To Reach

By Rail

Haridwar railway station is the nearest railway station that is connected to the major cities of India. From the railway station, you can hire local bus private vehicles for taxis to reach Sari village.

By Road

There are many private buses, taxes, and government buses that run from Haridwar to Sari Village. The total distance between Haridwar and Sari village is around 216 km which can be covered in the time period of 8 hours.

By Air

Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport which is located in Dehradun. From the airport, you can hire any local vehicle for the cab to reach Sari village by covering the distance of 209 kilometers in 7 hours.

Best time to visit Deoria Tal

The best and ideal opportunity to visit Deoriatal is from March to May and again from October to November. In winters from December to January month, when the snowfall begins, the evenings at Deoria Tal are amazingly crisp and are just fitting in the event that you approve of enduring temperatures well underneath the edge of freezing over.
