Deoria Tal is at an altitude of 2438 m and is considered a place where Gods used to take baths. It is an illusory lake that is encircled by the snow-clad mountains that are situated in the region of Rudraprayag in the Garhwal Region of Uttarakhand.
It is perhaps the most famous camping site and trekking place in Uttarakhand’s Himalayan region. You need to travel for 3 km on a trekking journey from Mastura and Sari towns on the Ukhimath-Chopta street, to arrive at this perfect lake.
This lake has a unique importance to Hindu mythology as it used to be called 'Indra Sarovar' according to Hindu Puranas. The astonishing landscape and pristine lake of this spot draw in countless adventurers and nature enthusiasts throughout the year.

As per the mythology, this was the exact Emerald Lake where the Hindu Devta or Gods used to take baths. Deoria Tal is also having its mention in Hindu Puranas and ancient Hindu Texts as “Indra Sarovar”.
This place is Mythologically connected to the Epic Mahabharata and is believed to be the place where Yaksha asked Pandavas to answer his questions before drinking the water of this lake. Even today the region has a splendid magical beauty due to its mythical background.
Devariyatal is also a paradise for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers. One can't find much sightseeing at this place but can have a view of the Mighty Himalayan peak and can also enjoy some of the adventure activities which are as follows:

At Deoria Tal one can also encounter the village life at Sari village for which you need to trek for almost 3 kilometers. Here you will be witnessing and learning about the local lifestyle, culture, and custom. You will find the local people very warm and welcoming.
One of the most enjoyed activities by nature lovers is bird watching as the place is located beside the Jungle, Lake water, Meadows, and other such natural environments which creates a perfect habitat for birds of different species. It is one of the highest temples of Lord Shiva and by opting for one kilometer for the trek you can also witness the magnificent beauty of Chandrashila peaks.

By Rail
Haridwar railway station is the nearest railway station that is connected to the major cities of India. From the railway station, you can hire local bus private vehicles for taxis to reach Sari village.
By Road
Many private buses, taxis, and government buses run from Haridwar to Sari Village. The total distance between Haridwar and Sari village is around 216 km which can be covered in 8 hours.
By Air
Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport which is located in Dehradun. From the airport, you can hire any local vehicle for the cab to reach Sari village by covering the distance of 209 kilometers in 7 hours.
The best and ideal opportunity to visit Deoriatal is from March to May and again from October to November. In winters from December to January month, when the snowfall begins, the evenings at Deoria Tal are amazingly crisp and are just fitting if you approve of enduring temperatures well underneath the edge of freezing over.
