The summer season in India
Summers or pre-monsoon season lasts from March to May in India. In the western and southern regions of India, May month is the hottest month. Northwestern India witnesses summers from April and ends in July. During Summers the intertropical conversion zone experiences low pressure, as a result, the wind inflow scatters in different directions leading to warm winds.
These hot winds are popularly referred to as loo which blows over the North Indian surface particularly during mid-afternoons while the southern states during this time experience pre-monsoon showers which are essential in the ripening of mangoes in these regions.
Temperature and weather conditions during summers
India is one of the most climatically diverse countries in the world. The Northern Indian climate is generally hotter as compared to the South Indian climate. The temperatures in summer tend to rise beyond 40 degrees Celcius. In summers in the Northern regions and the western arid deserts while in other places the temperatures can reach around 38 to 40 degrees.
From April to July, Northwest India experiences temperatures ranging from 35 degrees Celcius to 50 degrees Celsius while the coastal areas experience temperatures that are nearly 36- degrees Celsius while the temperatures in the Himalayan mountains are more tolerable and salubrious.
