1. Shillong

The beautiful hill station Shillong is the capital of the state Meghalaya. This pretty city is encircled by pine trees. It is famed for its serene places. Visit this spectacular city in September and May as the weather is salubrious. Explore some awesome places like- Umiam Lake, Elephant Falls, Laitlum Canyons, Shillong Peak, Mawphlang, and some other serene places too.

2. Cherrapunji

Cherrapunji is also named as Sohra. It is the wettest place in India. It is one of the stunning places in Meghalaya. It is the only place in India which has just one season-monsoon. The rainfall here varies from heavy to medium to light. It is one of the prettiest places to visit. It is replete with many tourist attractions – Kem Mawmluh Cave, Seven Sisters Falls, Eco Park, Kynrem Falls, Mawlynnog, Mawsmail Fall, and other exciting places too.

3. Mawsynram

Mawsynram a picturesque village is situated at a distance of about 61kms south of Shillong. It is one of the preferred locations in Meghalaya. It is acknowledged as the wettest place in the world. Visit this superb place in the months from September to November. Explore some serene places here like- Mawsmai Cave, Mawsmai Falls, Nohalikalai Falls, Mawlyngbna and other places too.

4. Tura

Tura is situated in the western part of Meghalaya. It is an eco-tourism hub of state Meghalaya. Explore this beautiful place during winters from February to March. Add some fantabulous places in your tour itinerary- Tura Peak, Siju Caves, Balpakram National Park, Nokrek National Park, Pelga Falls, Rongbang Dar Waterfalls. There are other beautiful places to explore that are truly worth visiting.   

5. Jowai

The picturesque Jowai is located in the Jaintia Hills district. It is about 66kms from Shillong and is famed for its serene surroundings. Head towards this destination for exploring some mind-blowing places like- Tryshi Falls, Nartiang Monoliths, Krang Suri Falls, Umlawan cave, Jarain Pitcher Plant lake, Syntu Ksair and many more other places of your interest.

6. Nongpoh

The stunning Nongpoh is located about 60kms from Guwahati in Assam. It is nestled very close to the awesome Brahmaputra plains. Tour this splendid place in the months from February to December as the climate remains pleasant and very apt for sightseeing. Head towards some superb locations in Nongpoh that will surely force you to visit again and again. Thrills Fun Park, Umiam Lake, Lum Nehru Park, Lum Sohpetbneng are some splendid places to explore in Nongpoh.

7. Williamnagar

Williamnagar boasts natural abundance. It is located 244kms from Shillong. Visit this superb location in the months from October to February. Grab a chance to visit Simsang river, Naka Chikong, Domre Falls, Mrik Wari, Siju caves and some other stunning places too. Williamnagar holds great historical importance as it was here that the Garos made their last prominent resistance to the British invasion into Garo hills during the year 1837.

8. Mawlynnong

The Mawlynnong – God’s own Garden, is a small yet beautiful village located 90kms from Shillong in the East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya. It was declared the cleanest village in Asia in the year 2003 by Discovery India. In the months from September to November plan a trip to this place and explore some outstanding places like- Bophill Falls, Umgrem Falls, Mawlynnong Waterfall, Living root bridge and Riwai village. There are some other places too to explore when in Mawlynnong.

9. Dawki

Dawki is a small border town in the serene Jaintia hills, It is the prominent centre of trade between India and Bangladesh. This particular place can be visited in any season. The weather remains pleasant throughout the year. Visit the famous river- Umngot or the Dawki river here. This place provides picturesque views of the Meghalayan landscapes. This town is a fantastic vantage point for admiring the Khasi and Jaintia Hills.

10. Baghmara

Baghmara the beautiful place is located at about 287kms south of Shillong at the Indo-Bangladesh border. It truly is rich in flora and fauna. It welcomes travellers with its fantabulous lakes, rivers and marvellous hills. Head towards this serene location in the months from October to January and explore some astounding places like- Siju Bird Sanctuary, Simsang, Siju caves, Baghmara reserve forest and a lot more other places of your interest.
